A basic work week is 40 hours a week. Most jobs have opportunities where you can make overtime (OT) which is normally calculated at time + 1/2 for anything over 40 hrs. That means if you make $10/hr, your OT will be $15 (10+5)/hr. There are also some jobs that have irregular hours. Most people have what is considered to be bankers hours: 9am-5pm. There are jobs that do not have those hours such as military, law enforcement, medical, etc.
