I want to become an IAS Officer. Which stream should I go for?

My elders say that Arts steam is suitable for IAS but Arts does not provide many career options and I do not have much knowledge about this stream. I don't know what one has to study in this stream. More than that I am quite good at science. I get above 95 in this subject. Till now I have not been able to recognise which is my favourite subject. #ias

Thank you comment icon If you are quite good at science and also maths, I would suggest you go for those subjects and try to major in engineering. An engineering degree instills great discipline and gives you the tools to do structured problem solving. If you are quite good at science and also maths, I would suggest you go for those subjects and try to major in engineering. An engineering degree instills great discipline and gives you the tools to do structured problem solving. There are many career paths that open up because of such a background. Arts stream does help but it is not a necessity, it solely depends upon your interest.
There are many ias officers who are from engineering or science background.
people have even completed post graduation in non arts field and thereafter have cracked the exam.
