Getting your hands dirty and fixing things are two key ingredients for rebuilding cars. I am not a mechanic but have worked and repaired cars, motorcycles and a number of other things. If you are wanting to do this to save money and avoid going to the mechanic my advice is try having someone who does know show you in person and walk you through the steps involved, like changing brakes, radiator or as simple as changing tires. My next two suggestions are youtube videos and Haynes book you and by at the auto parts store, would be also great options. Good Luck!
