How do I know which type of college to go to?

I am a rising senior and im trying to start looking at the types of colleges I would like to go to but I'm not really sure what to look for. There so many colleges to choose from and I want to choose the best for me.

Great question Inayah! I recommend thinking about things like:
Location: Where in the country you want to be (e.g. do you want to stay close to home? experience a different state/new weather/etc.?)
Career aspirations: What career(s) you're interested in pursuing, so you can narrow your search down by which schools offer a relevant major/program
Interests: What's important to you in your college experience (e.g. do you want to go to a big school or a small one? is the school having a football team and a strong greek life presence important to you?)
Tuition expenses: How much tuition costs will factor in to your decision.


This should give you a good starting point. Once you've got your list of what's important to you, use sites like Niche.com (https://colleges.niche.com/search/) to discover schools you may not have even heard of, and to ultimately narrow down your search and find a few schools you're really excited about.
