What is the homework like at an elite college?

I'll be going to college soon, and I'm thinking about taking 5 classes, but I'm a little scared that I won't be able to keep up with the coursework. #college

Anina,

Congrats on starting the college plunge. I'd highly recommend against taking 5 courses for your first term/semester. You want to be able to get your feet wet before diving in. Try taking 2-3 courses and learn to work on your time management skills. The workloads vary in college. Some courses will feel like the homework and projects are non stop, while some are easily spread throughout the term. The workloads are very doable and can be easy.

What I do is map out plans to complete assignment. Also, think about the weekly tasks, rather than the entire syllabus. Syllabus will seem overwhelming but if you break it down by week, it helps make things more manageable.

Good Luck!

Homework is gonna take up a great deal of your time! Focus on time management. For every class you take, ensure that you have 5 hours a week to work on assignments for each class. So if you take 5 classes, split up 25 hours worth of homework throughout the week. I used to schedule specific days that I had no classes (those were homework days) then I would schedule my classes on 2 or 3 days a week and focus only on classes those days. Ensure you have at least one "me time/ rest" day each week.
