Is Engineering better than a alternative?

So lately I've been thinking once I get engineering will I be able to succeed in life for my future. Because I'm not sure if I will get enough money to present that future, but so far I think since I decided Electrical engineering, which is most popular among generally for engineering as it seems, I'll start getting some dough. But some YouTubers out there getting money as ever living the life than a career. They don't even have to lift a muscle and stacks come out of nowhere, such as Mr. Beast or Nolifeshaq, etc. Is like is it even worth getting a career, am I gambling a good opportunity? Well... Neither is false nor true because it all depends.

Firstly, if you have any financial concerns, you can speak to your parents. Also, you can consider to apply scholarship and financial aids in school/college. At the same time, you can work on part time basis as well.
I am delighted that you would like to start your career on engineering. At the same time, I hope you really have interest on electrical engineering and not because it is popular. Electrical Engineering is not an easy subject to study. And, I have also noticed that you would like to be a youtubers. In fact, you can do both at the same time. Do you have topics you are interested or you have the expertise on? You can be a KOL in particular topics. But, you may not rely on the income of being a youtuber to support your living. You can only make a good sum of monies with a substantial number of subscribers. Please consider prudentially on your future plan.
Hope this helps! Good Luck!

David’s Answer

The main difference in any career are the odds of success and your overall happiness. Most Electrical Engineers who do good in school will make it to have good jobs and make money. Not everyone who is a Youtuber will do the same, and who knows if there will be something else to come along that will replace Youtube. For every successful youtuber there are hundreds or thousands of engineers. Also do what you love doing and makes you happy while being able to make money to take care of yourself.

David recommends the following next steps:

Study career options to see which ones lead to specific types of jobs.
Look up how likely are you to succeed if pursuing a certain career. Like the number of available jobs by the time you will graduate.

There are so many parts of this questions to dissect.
First, it is important you find what you like and enjoy doing, if possible something where you get immersed in and time flies by. I believe people can succeed in anything they love doing, though some fields are more challenging than others, like arts and music, versus STEM. You're going to spend 8hrs a day, 5 days a week, therefore most of your life working, if money is your only motivation, you will most likely be unhappy, fail, and eventually quit or change your job/career.
Second, for every success story, there are 10s of thousands of people who failed. That's why failure rate for entrepreneurs (e.g. influencers) is 90% just in the first year. The more you make, the more stress and sacrifices you have. How much do you actually know about these influencers, how much time (years) before they became noticed? How much time they spent creating these videos, you only see the end product.
Lastly, engineering is a good degree, I have one in mechanical, it gives you a good foundation, and what's key is it teaches you how to think, to problem solve, and to analyze, which is useful in any job. But is electrical engineering something you enjoy, or pursuing it because others are?
