The most important thing to keep in mind is that experience is the best thing you can do for yourself in any career. I knew people who went through Undergrad for PreMed, got subpar grades, and did not pursue any opportunities to volunteer, shadow, or work in a clinical setting - guess what their outlook was when applying to medical school?? Less than ideal!
Plus, if you're looking to specialize you'll want to shadow to ensure that the day-to-day of the job is something you could see yourself doing. Plenty of people invest years of their lives working towards a profession that they end up hating, so it's good that you're looking at your options early.
