Hi Hope,

I love animals too! There are many options to obtain a job at a zoo. You could look for openings and apply. I would encourage you to network and try to find a contact that can help you obtain a role at a zoo. As well, you could start out with looking for volunteer opportunities if you are unable to find a job. Finally, you could go to school and study zoology. I hope you fulfill your dream to work at a zoo and help animals!

You can look online for Zoo related jobs. You can also take a course in zoology or animal care, or read about it online to learn more so you can apply for the more demanding jobs at the zoo

Hi Hope! I agree with Larissa in that because you are a student your local Zoo may have volunteer opportunities available. I know that the local zoo in my area has a program specifically for HS students interested in working with Animals. You may also want to talk to someone there about shadowing opportunities. Another possibility is to also look at local Veterinary offices that need help or have jobs, at least then you are exploring all options in working with animals and finding/understanding your path of interest. By branching out you may also find there are other areas that you are not aware of that exposes you to animals that you may like. For example, I know another student that was similarly interested but found that she wanted to work with large animals, like Horses, Cattle, etc. But she wasn't aware of those options until she started to explore. Don't be afraid to look into things that aren't exactly what you want, you may find you fall in love with something you never knew existed! Good luck!
