John’s Answer

Hi Nhlakanipho,
I think you can do both. The automotive field has a lot of different disciplines in it. Engineering, being one of them, which requires advance math and science. I think you would do well to pursue both. You could have a great advantage as an engineer that has hands on experience doing the repair work, and understanding how it gets repaired can help you be a better designer. I hope this helped and I wish the best in your journey. Please let me know how it goes. Take care!

Nicole’s Answer

Hi NHLAKANIPHO N. Thanks so much for this awesome question!

In this year, 2022 where there is a growing demand for electric vehicles and where automobile manufacturers are making major investments in electric vehicles, I can't think of better timing or a better marriage between automobile technician, math and science! To be clear, you can absolutely become whatever you want. More specifically though, there will be a continuous need for automobile technicians. Those who have the added knowledge of the deeper technical aspects of how cars work and can adapt to changes in how cars work will be invaluable to the industry and will have the potential to grow professionally.

I wish you best of luck in your growth path.
