I know it all depends on what your career choice consists of, but how would you work on that transition from college to the real world? #college #career

Moving forward definitely starts while in college or you may get behind. Looking for internships starting in your Jr. year would be good. Your teachers can be good resources too. Especially one that you've had for more than one class and have impressed. It never hurts to ask, all they can say is no is a great motto and is very true about college and life afterwards. So do the things other students don't do so you can get ahead and be proactive. Wally Neely Translate

I suggest going into a first job in the field that aligns with your college degree and related coursework. Try this role for 2 years, and if you do not love it, make a job change into something else that brings you fulfillment. We rarely know what we really want to do when we grow up, so many of us resorted to taking steps to try new things and grow & learn.

Best wishes as you find your passion. Never give up!

Halea, this is a great question and something that can seem very confusing when you are applying to colleges or in college. Ideally, your academic advisor and/or career counselor at your university will have discussions about this with you so you should reach out to them. Competing internships while in school is a great way to develop contacts at different organizations and learn more about your chosen field. You may also want to look into conducting some informational interviews with people who have jobs that you find interesting. There are several websites which can tell you more about informational interviews such as how to ask for one and conduct one in a professional and respectful way. Without knowing more about your career choice, it would be difficult to guide you further but you can't go wrong with internships. Even if you only learn from an internship what you don't want to do, at least you are wiser than before!
