What types of jobs can an environmental engineering major get right out of college?

I'm really interested in the field, but I have not been able to find what jobs they specifically do.

Donald’s Answer

I classify such careers as either engineers for environmental consulting firms, or positions in staff environmental departments at manufacturing or environmental service companies. For starting positions, consulting firms are probably the most available positions, gathering field information and processing data. With a consulting firm you would probably be exposed to a broad variety of activities, which would help you decide whether to stay in consulting, or move into a corporate staff position. Corporate staff positions can be difficult and initially boring, but usually provide more stability and in my case, worthwhile. As you will no doubt hear from others, your first boss can make the difference between a so-so experience and developing real skills and acomplishments.
