This is really dependent on the type of job you have. I've had hourly customer service jobs at previous companies where I'd work for 6-8 hours in a given day, granted there are breaks throughout the day for lunch and 15 minute breaks here and there. My current job is remote at a technology company and I generally work 6-7 hours daily and have time to enjoy walking my dogs, eating a good lunch and pick up my daughter from school.

I would recommend weighing what goals you have in mind career wise and look into that specific career to see what the average demand of that job is. For example, nurses will work much longer hours than I do and are required to be in person.

Typically work 9 hours a day as an IT project management advisor , but varies greatly with projects . Somedays could relatively free and in times of project delivery and working with tight timelines you might have to put in a few extra hours.
