Is Organic Chemistry a hard course in college?

I'm thinking about going into pharmacy.

Thank you comment icon Hi! Great question! I am currently taking Intro to organic chemistry, and I personally love the class. I love chemistry a lot and organic chemistry has solidified my understanding of chemistry in general. To be honest, organic chemistry is one of the most difficult science courses you will take in college. To understand o-chem, you need a solid foundation in general chemistry and biology, but don't worry because you will take these courses before you take o-chem. However, organic chemistry is usually the most difficult class for a lot of STEM students. BUT! that doesn't mean you can't do well in the class. If you put enough effort into learning the course, then it will help you understand chemistry and eventually receive a good grade. Ramtin

It is going to be one of the more challenging courses that you take as an undergrad. Finding time to study and grasp the concepts will be key.

Organic chemistry is one of the tougher pre-med/pharm courses, but it is learnable and passable. Study hard and don't be afraid to ask for help if you need it. In my experience don't let a tough course deter you from choosing a career path. I struggled with some courses throughout my education, but decided to just focus and get through it. In the end when you are practicing as a Pharmacist, you won't think too much about O-chem .

Honest answer is, I found organic chemistry to be difficult and many of my classmates did too. It is not impossible, however. It does require studying outside of class with a group or individually to practice the concepts and fully understand the material.

Yes, organic chem is one of or if not the hardest classes to take. I had to take it twice. You have to be determined to learn and put in the hard work.
