Highly recommend interning with an aquarium. You will need to be a certified scuba diver, likely will need a science degree like marine biology, and photography lessons. Understanding your photography equipment would be a good place to start if you haven't already.

Najjiyya’s Answer

To become an oceanographer, you typically need a bachelor’s degree in a science field (like marine biology, oceanography, or geology), plus fieldwork and lab training. Many oceanographers also earn a master’s or PhD for research‑focused careers. Hands‑on skills like data analysis, using ocean instruments, and sometimes SCUBA certification are important.
