Texas is a great place to practice medicine. Advantages include plenty of job opportunities with reasonable compensation , no state income tax, and population that is not very litigious.

You can work in a big city or choose a more rural practice

Great question! Doctors are needed wherever people live, so there is a good chance you will find a position no matter where you want to live. Certain major cities like LA and NYC have a large concentration of physicians, but I bet if you did a google search you would still find job offerings in both cities. Certain parts of the country have fewer physicians and you might find greater opportunities for jobs and with potentially more pay because these places want to attract more doctors. I would consider thinking about what you like in an area (do you prefer outdoor activities or want to stay in a city) when choosing where you want to live. The sky is really the limit because as our population in the US continues to age, doctors will be needed everywhere.
