Teresa’s Answer

Hi Meaghan! I love that you are starting your career to be the best nurse you can be-- that is a GREAT way to start. I have been a nurse for almost 32 years and I have met many great one over my career. I can tell you the best nurses I have ever met had a passion for their work. My best advice is to find the area that you LOVE and learn more about it. I believe nurses who work in their specialty really excel. You are on the right track- pursue your passion and that fuels greatness!

Best of luck in your future-

Teresa Bentley, RN

Lorraine E.’s Answer

Hi Meaghan,

The fact that you are asking this question means that you are on your way to becoming a great nurse. I recommend finding an area of nursing and/or healthcare that interests you or is your passion. This will make it easy for you to enjoy what you do. Show compassion, be patient, educate, and be empathetic. My philosophy is that I treat each patient like a member of my family (father, mother, sibling, grandparent, child, etc.). What would I want for my family member? I consider this to ensure that I will give each patient my best and treat him or her with the care and attention I would for my family member. Love what you do! If you love what you are doing, it will show in the work you do. Hope this helps!

Good luck,

Lorraine M., RN, MSN, FNP-C
