Check unions or trade schools for placement programs.

Join local welding associations or unions (e.g., American Welding Society) to connect with employers.
Attend job fairs or industry events in your area.
Evaluate Opportunities:
Prioritize companies offering training, certifications, and career growth.

The best place to start would be a local welding school that offers a 3-month certification class. It is orders of magnitude cheaper than a 2-year college course, but still gives you all the basics you need to start out in a welding career.
Once you complete that, then it's just deciding what area of welding interests you the most (shop fabrication, structural steel, pipeline, etc), or is available locally depending on your location.
