Technically, the only tools you need to begin are a pencil, paper, drafting table, and an eraser. Depending on where you start your education, it may be possible that you jump right into AutoCAD and learn how to draft using computers.
The best way for you to start is to enroll in classes at your school for architecture/design. If your school or university does not offer architecture classes, then there are plenty of beginner's courses online. I suggest enrolling in a college that specifically offers this major. They will provide you with the tools to get started.
In short, the only tool you really need is motivation. Find local architects in your area, start networking with them, and ask them questions like "How did you get your start? If you were to start over today at my age, what would you do differently?"
The best way to get involved in your dream career is to start talking to the people who are already doing it. If you find the right architect, they will be more than willing to help you. If they are not willing to help you, then that architect is not worth your time. Move on to someone who is willing to train you.
