You raise a broad and important question about life. I guess you're a student.
Life gives us an opportunity to make choices virtually on a daily basis. Having a purposeful life is a very powerful aspiration we develop as we grow up. We are influenced by the things we see & hear, the people we meet & relate with, the very special people in our lives whose lives touch us in profound ways. Enrolling in to formal education system further widens our views due to the things we learn & experience. As a result, we develop many interests, including the kind of future we would like for ourselves.
Eventually, we make choices about our professional careers. With this comes opportunities to persue our aspirations.
High school gives us an opportunity to identify the subjects we are really good at and the things we love & enjoy doing.
It is at such moments that decisions on careers are often made. Opportunities are available for a wide range of pathways. Ideally, we should choose what not only interests us the most but also something we love doing. It has to be something that can draw the very best out of us. Passion, diligence & commitment are always key factors for success.
Opportunities for internships are essential as they give you the opportunity to get hands-on experience and apply theoretical knowledge in real world settings. Working alongside professionals is extremely important for personal & professional development as they provide both mentorship and guidance. It also gives you a chance to have a feel of the real work environment so you can choose what is most appropriate for you.
Membership in professional associations exposes you to professional standards, regulations and best practices. So find professional bodies that are relevant to your chosen career.
There are important skills that are required in every occupation: analytical, problem solving, leadership, planning, communication skills & ability to work in teams. You need to utilize every available opportunity to acquire them.
