What kind of part-time jobs do people work while in college?

I'm going to need a job in order to pay for college so I'm wondering how feasible it is for me to work and go to college.

Hi Tanner,

I would recommend starting to work during the summer and notify your employer that you will be attending college and your hours and days may vary. During undergrad I had worked at the mall for a sneaker company I had climbed the ladder within a year and half and became store manager. I knew that was not my future career but it helped me build social skills, management skills, and it was great seeing such short growth for my first job. I switched to being a Bank Teller after 2 years as I knew I wanted to go into accounting and needed to build client relationship skills. From there during my master I had interned with Deloitte for twice before accepting a full time opportunity. I think its best to start looking into internships (some which are paid) as early as possible. During my masters I would do my internship during the day and take classes at night. During undergrad I would have schedule my classes in a way that I would have 2 full day of classes and 2 days with just one morning class, so I can study and work the remaining time. I hope this helps!

Hi Tanner,
A great question, but an easy one. Some of the jobs you can consider paying for your tuition are. Working in a coffee shop as a Barista, a restaurant as a waiter, dog walking, a lifeguard, a tutor, delivering groceries, a library assistant, an event planner, and mentoring.

Hi Tanner,
This is a great question! One thing to consider for part-time jobs is the flexibility you will need for your class schedule, and that the class schedule will change whether quarterly or each semester. Some of the jobs you can consider are working at a restaurant or coffee shop, dog walking or pet sitting, working in retail, tutor at your school, work study program at school, or TaskRabbit or delivery services. Good luck!
