How do you decide what to major in?

I have been doing research on different majors and am conflicted on how to decide on a field to study during college. I would appreciate advice and tips that anyone has to offer! #College

Hey Amber!

Great news - you have so much time to decide! My advice is that if you are undecided on a major before you go to college, wait until you get there to decide. There will be a lot of class offerings that give you intros into a major of study and you can explore a few different intro classes when you get to school. If you are still having a hard time deciding, then dive into some internships in the fields you are interested in. Follow your passions and you can't go wrong. :)

Hi Amber - This is such a great question! I would try to look at the type of job you want to pursue and look at majors offered at the school you are applying to. You can also select a college and apply as undecided (ie. say you know you want to do something within the field of business and you apply to a business school as undecided). You can then schedule time with the career center and ask for a listing of jobs former students landed based on the respective major.

Lastly, I recommend that you talk to as many people in different professions and ask them what they do day to day. See if their experience interests you and ask what they majored in to get them to their role today.
