Hello, Brooklyn !

Your Bachelors Degree from Florida Sate University will be in Communication Science and Disorders and that is a four year path, not a two year program. In Florida, you would then go for your Master of Science in Communication Science and Disorders. That will be for a career as a licensed speech-language pathologist.

It's indicated that you live in Georgia, so if you plan to return to a state other than Florida, you'll have to find out about Licensing as you'll need your licensing in the state in which you plan to practice in. Your program would also have to be accepted in the state that you plan to practice in. You can ask about0 this at your current college.

Since you are currently studying Communication Science, you can probably discover a topic for research any time by looking at your textbooks table of contents. Some of the specialized paths are pediatric or bilingual therapy, research, management, nonprofit leadership, training and development, or sales and marketing. Your thesis for your Masters should be something that particularly needs more research done. You should choose the topic yourself and not let others suggest it since you've done the study for this work. You will also have clinicals during your Masters path and maybe that would bring forth an idea for research based on what you observe during clinicals.

You can think about this now, but there's no need to get ahead of the game as you've mentioned. Focus on getting good grades and keeping your undergraduate GPA high. It may be best to wait until you start your Masters so the professor can give you the actual detailed information about your Masters Thesis and may assign or can suggest a topic for you to research. Take everything step by step and you will do fine.

Best wishes in all you do !
