Hi Isadora. Becoming a vet can be challenging, but it's a rewarding journey. You'll need a 4-year degree and then attend medical school. I suggest contacting a local small vet hospital to see how you can get involved and find out if this path excites you. Also, consider joining local FFA and 4H chapters. They offer great programs to inspire people interested in animal science.

No it is actually somewhat difficult to become a fully certified small animal vet. You almost certainly have to get a four year undergraduate degree in science/animal biology which can be difficult but very doable. But, then you again have to apply for a graduate degree which often takes another four years (2 years studying and 2 years of unpaid work at a local vet office). Yet, once you do complete all this schooling you get paid a ton of money and get to deal with animals all your life. So although it is not easy, it is a very rewarding career. I would look at tufts in MA as that is a very well renowned vet school.
