What skills do employers look for in people who study sociology, and what can I start doing in high school to build those skills?

I’m a high school student interested in studying sociology in college, and I want to make sure I’m developing the right skills early. Are there specific classes, clubs, jobs, or projects you’d recommend I focus on to prepare for sociology-related careers? Any advice from your own experience would be really helpful!

You're doing a fantastic job by planning for the future! I studied Sociology in college too. One important tip is to consider getting a Master's degree. It can open up more career opportunities for you. Also, try volunteering with different groups, like at schools, nursing homes, or your local human services department. This experience can be really valuable. Keep up the great work!

Krishawna recommends the following next steps:

Speak with your school counselor about current human services program offered locally
Visit your local nursing home or hospital and speak with the activities director or case manager about volunteering
