How can I stand out for Financial Aid?
Is there a way to identity that you as a stusent are paying for college rather than a parent. The way FAFSA is set up, it makes it impossible to make a distiction!! #Spring26

Hi Charlotte,
I answered a similar question here: https://www.careervillage.org/questions/1212465/why-does-fafsa-consider-how-much-your-parent-makes-and-factor-that-in-for-how-much-money-you-will-be-awarded-even-if-you-will-be-paying-for-college-on-your-own-i-lost-most-of-my-scholarships-and-gra
So to summarize that, there is no way to distinguish that you are paying for college vs. parents. That is unfortunately how the FAFSA system was set up.
I am sorry there is not a better way to go about FAFSA.
