Why is it so hard to get a scholarship?

Hi, I'm a high school senior and I am going to college for a music education degree. I love band. Would like to teach kids to love music too. I come from a low-income family and really need scholarships. I find it hard to get one. I applied to hundreds of scholarships and only received one and that's because whoever applied got one. I am thankful for it but can really use the help to how to figure out to get more scholarships. I volunteer a lot with the veterans Home in my community bringing them music every month and I also go to a rehab center in my community to bring them music. I also feed the homeless once a month. I love my community and would like to bring music to it in my way.

That is great you do so much for your local community! Scholarships can be tricky and with some big ones, so many people apply. It can feel super frustrating and discouraging. I'd keep researching and Googling any and all you can find. They don't necessarily need to be within your desired music education degree. Big companies offer them as well as niche ones. It is really a numbers game. You can also see if your school has one like a foundation one for their students continuing their education. In addition, if you have a guidance counselor, you can see if they have a portal or list of others that students have done in the past and if they can assist in finding ones. You can also ask any employers if they have scholarships/grants or even tuition assistance programs too!
