Hi, it depends on the state you live in. I would strongly recommend going for Early childhood degree. It would provide you more insight and eventually you can decide if you would like to pursue a major in grad school. It will also open more avenues for you through volunteering at different school settings and internships.

Check which colleges offer the course around you
Definitely try to go for a degree course
Talk to teachers in your area to find out salaries and perks
Think, if this is what you would like to pursue as a long term career.

Hello Autumn: May I suggest that you first start by looking up whatever certification is required in your state and do it. Some states may or not require that you have a teaching degree. But, I'd suggest that you go for a degree because having it is good career insurance (especially if you decide to change careers later in life). And, at least you'll have a degree and won't have to go back to school unless you want an advanced degree. Hope this helps.
