Which skills (vocal, dance, language) do agencies prioritize most during teen auditions???

I am hoping to audition in a couple years when I am 15-18 and while I wait to audition I could keep privately training and practicing for k-pop agencies.

You did not specify what teen auditions you are going to pursue. I can answer only in general.

I play sax and Afro - Latin percussion. These entail easily 10 instruments, e.g., congas (3 voices), bongos, tambourine, cowbell, shekere, cymbals, djembe, soprano, alto and tenor saxes. This is my light package unless I know the date requires less (or more).

If an audition is specific, I bring and prepare to perform on that instrument only. For a broader audition I will bring my Alto sax and my congas. I may have the soprano sax and the bongos on hand.

I also play bass passably and sing well. These would be mentioned. I would never go for a bass audition. I could be persuaded to audition for vocalist.

It comes down to where you shine and how you are known and want to be known in the artist community for doing so well. In one segment I am known as a saxist who plays Percussion. In another segment, I am known as a Percussionist who plays sax. In other segments, I am known as, " Wait, I know he plays_____! I did not know he plays ___________ like that, too!"

My suggestion, since you are preparing now, is to develop your favorite talent to the point of unmatched excellence. What I mean is that when you play back your rehearsal performances, you are impressed, even to the point of tears. And allow yourself to feel good about your development. Just don't stop.

That is all for now. I will be happy to answer any followup questions.

You didn't mention which teen auditions you're interested in, so I can only give general advice.

I play saxophone and Afro-Latin percussion, which includes about 10 instruments like congas, bongos, tambourine, cowbell, shekere, cymbals, djembe, and soprano, alto, and tenor saxophones. This is my basic setup unless I know I need less.

For specific auditions, I focus on one instrument. For broader auditions, I usually bring my alto sax and congas, and sometimes my soprano sax and bongos.

I also play bass fairly well and sing well. I wouldn't audition for bass but might consider singing.

It's important to focus on what you excel at and how you want to be recognized in the music community. In some areas, I'm known as a saxophonist who plays percussion, and in others, a percussionist who plays sax.

My advice is to develop your favorite talent to an exceptional level. When you listen to your practice recordings, aim to impress yourself. Feel proud of your progress, but keep pushing forward.

That's it for now. I'm happy to answer any more questions you have.
