Why do people prefer living off campus?

I understand the pros and cons of living on campus, I'd like to here some perspectives of those who enjoyed an off campus experience.

That's an easy one. When you live in a dorm your space is limited, you don't always get to pick your roommate, and your subject to dorm rules. Living off campus you get to live like a real adult without having to following dorm rules, you can pick your own roommates, and often times you can find a nice house to rent, split it 3-4 ways, and it's cheaper than paying for that teeny tiny dorm room.
