Which college in Idaho should I try to attend for Civil Engineering?

When I have asked if a college in Idaho offers a Civil Engineering program, I receive a very vague answer. I am not sure if it is because the certain college that I am asking is looking out for their own interest rather then helping me pursue the best avenue for my education.

Paul’s Answer

Hi Tucker:

I can tell you from personal experience, that the University of Idaho has an excellent Civil Engineering program. I attended the U of I, as did another member of my family. He attained his Civil Engineering bachelors from the University of Idaho and then went on to get his Masters from the U of I and later passed the exams and has the P.E. designation. He worked for a number of organizations, including the Bureau of Reclamation, the Grand Coulee Dam, and the Forest Service.

The University of Idaho has always had excellent support for individuals going into the civil engineering field, and their facilities are also very good. One thing I observed is that the size of the college has also been a benefit. You are more likely to have the actual professor teaching the course, rather than an instructional assistant. Access to the advisor and staff has always been very good as well. I would look at the University of Idaho as a possible choice for a Civil Engineering degree.

Paul recommends the following next steps:

Visit the University of Idaho website and review their Civil Engineering section
Contact the University of Idaho Civil Engineering department and ask for more information about their program.
Conract the University of Idaho admissions office and request information on Civil Engineering programs and their admissions standards.

Hello Tucker,

Hope Paul's answer is helpful for your search. I would say any state college or local engineering college is good for Civil Engineering. I did my Beachlor in Civil engineering from local univerisy and I am very happy. If you decided to do master then I would suggest to do your research and apply to college that meet your goal. Wish you all the best and good luck!
