Vincent’s Answer

My recommendation is to not pursue this for too long if you are not successful. But if you want to become successful in this. You will definitely need a plan.

The Esport community is highly competitive and requires you to be the best at not only mechanical skills, but also team communication, and being a good follower and committing to the plan. This however, is not the most reliable source of income. You are probably thinking more about Twitch streaming and YouTube videos.

Streaming has created a large conflict with the eSport world because it's significantly more reliable source of income. The problem is that you need to be a better performer. Not necessarily the best gamer, but the best entertainer. Although there are a lot of success stories, you have to understand that they are only 1% of all streamers.

Disguised Toast talks about how he generates income in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6m5P_n5njCQ

Video explaining how streamers make money: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-QeNwrVTCy4

Vincent recommends the following next steps:

Research the different ways gamers generate revenue: Ads, Sponsorship, subs, etc.
Look at each point and dig deeper and learn how to apply to yourself
Practice personal communication skills
Consider something more practical

Pawan’s Answer

No matter what you do, it all starts with practice. Practice your skills, become good, better and one of the best at what you do (whichever game you play). Play online and if you feel you're good at it you can earn money by :

1: There are various websites like Twitch.tv where you can stream "while you play" and get money. It's like instagram for gamers. You play, make followers who want to watch you play and earn money.

2.You can also start posting reviews for games you play, what you find good in them, what you like and don't like, what you wish could be improved etc. If other players\gamers find what you say to be interesting, they'll follow you and as your views grow, you'll get more money. It's a slow start and takes time to build to a level where you earn a good amount of money.

3.The fastest way would be to take part in online gaming tournaments, play well and take the prize money.

I'd suggest doing all of the above in parallel. Winning an online tournament adds to your resume and you can flaunt it on your accounts (youtube, twitch etc).

Pawan recommends the following next steps:

Explore sites like twitch.

Shrinivas’s Answer

I see a trend where professional gamers can teach others . One of ways is to advertise your gaming and communication skills is by posting your videos and explanation of steps you take on you tube channels. If there is enough demand to learn some of these skills, you could train interested people, young or old, by charging appropriate fees.

On average, gamers make  most of their money from streaming ad revenue on YouTube while playing video games, with many pro gamers earning more than half their annual income from that source
