Programming languages are a great asset! One of the most popular ones is Python. I would suggest start with one, do some projects with it so that you gain confidence and then move to another one, perhaps Java.
Spending some time researching jobs that require programming skills will also give you an indication about what are currently the most in demand ones. However, quite often employers want to see that you have the aptitute, so even if you do not know the partucular language they are looking for, if you can demonstrate that you have the motivation to learn new languages, they can still hire you and teach you on the job. Nowadays, there are plenty of affordable or even free online courses for you to go on and teach yourself. By the way, stating in your applications that you are self-taught, always impresses employers! Make sure you sign up on github to showcase your work and share knowledge with others!
