Robert E.’s Answer

Never be content with the status quo and always strive to keep learning in the field. Great clinicians become great from an unrelenting passion to help their patients more and more.

Never get sucked into a system where the company you work for cherishes numbers and outputs above your quality of life and the quality of your care. This is a growing problem in the healthcare industry, and it breeds burnout and poor clinical skills.

Robert E. recommends the following next steps:

Find a passion to tie into PT (sports specific training, pediatrics, ATC)
Have goals for post-graduate certification (CSCS, OCS, etc)
Let your employers know you want to grow and learn (they like to hear that and will often help offset the costs of continuing education)
