Catherine’s Answer

Hi Heaven, I'm not sure what field you're referring to, but in terms of finding people who enjoy their jobs and are respectful, it's pretty good pickings! When you go through your job interview process, remember to note what the workplace culture is like, what your interviewer or manager is like, and if you have room to grow in the position.

Don't be afraid to ask questions of your interviewer and potential coworkers. You are, essentially, interviewing the company to see if it's worth your time and energy when you are looking at potentially working there.

Catherine recommends the following next steps:

List what qualities you look for in a work environment
List what qualities you look for in your coworkers
Rewrite your list to prioritize your most important, make-or-break points

Kate’s Answer

I agree with Catherine's answer - great advice! You should be able to pick up on the level of respect in the environment when you interview. How do they treat you as a candidate? Are they kind to colleagues, like an administrative assistant, if you are interviewing in an environment where there is an admin helping you through the interview day. Follow your inner gut if you feel like it won't be a good fit and keep looking! Your intuition is a great guide. Also, if you learn what the company's mission is, that can guide you. Often, companies who are guided by a strong mission to serve others attract employees who want to be a part of that mission. In my experience, mission driven companies are respectful.

I am not sure which field you are referring to and below are some of the key points that I could share based on experience:

> Read - Read about your industry, Read about the people in the field of industry that you choose
>Watch videos of topics related to your industry
>Get trainings related to your industry. You may also want to observe people or colleagues who are doing well in that particular field.
> Have an open mind and be ready for the next opportunity

Hope this helps.
