I am glad you want to be a Mechanical Engineer! The best courses to take are all math classes and science classes! This will help you be very technically skilled within Engineering!

Add electrical/electronic and software/computer science courses in addition to mechanical engineering courses to your studies. Self driving cars, autopilot drones, manufacturing robots and most of the latest technology innovations combine several engineering disciplines. Having a varied skill set makes your resume stand out and gives you more opportunity to pursue several different interests. Entrepreneur/inventors like James Dyson and Elon Musk are knowledgeable in many fields.
