Emily’s Answer

I worked in the restaurant industry for 10 years and I can honestly say that the dishwashing position is almost ALWAYS hiring!!
The best time to submit an application at a restaurant is Mon-Thu 2p-4p
A restaurant manager is in a real bad spot on the day his dishwasher doesn't show up. Also, dishwashers that do show up often end up working too many hours and getting burned out and tired when the other guy doesn't show up and he has to cover their shifts too often.
Apply at every restaurant in your area for dishwasher and I promise you will have a job in a few days.

Easier still, just call restaurants one by one and ask if they need a dishwasher. (Do not call right during the busy lunch or dinner time) A company will always say they are accepting applications, but if you explain you are specifically looking for an open dishwasher spot, they may tell you truthfully yes or no.

Also, the BEST answer to, "Why do you want this job?" is "Because I have bills to pay!"
If you have bills to pay, odds are you need the job and will keep showing up to pay those bills.

Dishwasher position has the HIGHEST turn-over of any position. There are always spots open nearby.

Best of luck to you!

I honestly recommend walking into the restaurants in your area--assuming the question is really about finding dishwasher work--with a nicely written-up card with your contact information on one side and 'Hire me as a dishwasher' on the other. Why do you want work as a dishwasher?

Donald’s Answer

Although, I have no experience in dishwashing. I did notice a few dishwasher requests online at local staffing agencies. Typically, employment is temporary. Thereby, you can work as a "Dishwasher" temporarily through a staffing agency. Then, you can determine if you like it before moving on or making a long term commitment.

Donald recommends the following next steps:

You can do an internet search for "People Ready staffing" in your area. I've had great experience with them!
