Gregg’s Answer

Hello Ramya,
While I don't think there is a single path to becoming a police officer I do know that it's not uncommon for graduates from military colleges to go on to become police officers.

Dr. James’s Answer

As former Police Officer, most agencies require either 2 yrs military or 2 years college. There is no set major in college. Since you are in India, the requirements could be different.

Anilkumar’s Answer

The Tamil Nadu Uniformed Services Recruitment Board (TNUSRB) handles police recruitment. You can join as a Police Constable (PC) or a Sub-Inspector (SI).

1. Basic Eligibility:
- Constable: You need to have completed the 10th grade (SSLC).
- Sub-Inspector: You must have a recognized Bachelor's Degree.
- Age: Typically between 18 to 26 years for Constables and 20 to 28 years for SIs, with age relaxations for BC/MBC/SC/ST categories.

2. Written Examinations:
- Tamil Eligibility Test: You must pass a Tamil language test.
- Main Written Exam: This covers General Knowledge, Current Affairs, and Psychology/Logical Analysis. For SI candidates, it also includes basic law and police administration.

3. Physical Tests (PMT & PET):
- Physical Measurement Test (PMT): You must meet specific height and chest measurements.
- Endurance Test: Includes a timed run (e.g., 1500 meters for men, 400 meters for women).
- Efficiency Test: Includes activities like rope climbing, long/high jumps, and sprints.

4. Medical & Document Verification:
- You need good vision, no major health issues, and must pass a thorough background check.
