Hassan’s Answer

Think about what parts of the car you're most interested in to decide on a major.

For example, if you're interested in cars of the future then Electrical Engineering could be a good path since all cars have electronics and more cars will use electricity as propulsion source. I would expect the odds of finding a job are better than with a degree just focused on Automotive and you can always work in other industries.

You could also do Computer Science or Software Engineering since most new cars are several computers on wheels. Everyone is trying to launch a self driving car which requires lots of Artificial Intelligence as well as Computer Vision. CS folks will be the ones that have to make it work.

If you're more interested in the styling and exterior then maybe focus on transportation or industrial design. There are Automotive Engineering degrees that cover everything.
