What do you do daily as a CSI worker?
I want to be in the CSI. It has always interested me to work in the forensics field. #workflow #CSI

A CSI, or crime scene investigator, do exactly what their job description says they do. Investigate crime scenes. I'm sure you have seen a few episodes of the CSI television show which portrays some rather lofty ideas about what a CSI does during their shift, but it is not exactly true.
Becoming a CSI depends on your education and the law enforcement department you work for or are thinking about joining. Many times, CSI's were once working the road as a patrol, before gaining enough time and experience to become a detective. Detectives, for the most part, are the CSI investigators for law enforcement. However, some departments and private companies have their own CSI personnel who are not commissioned peace officers and only gather evidence on crime scenes. Such as the FBI.
All that to say, most times, the CSI gathers evidence from crime scenes, such as bullets and shells from discharged weapons as well as various other weapons used in the crime, all bodily fluids, hair follicles and any other DNA evidence, and even body parts of dismembered persons involved in the crime. To be a CSI you must have a strong stomach in order to collect evidence (dead bodies) that many citizens would never see. The CSI day does not end at this point, because once all of the evidence is gathered they will most likely have to package the evidence and transport it to a secure location. At the secure location, they may have to reexamine evidence and run tests to verify what the evidence is, such as human DNA, or what kind of weapon discharged the bullet or shell found on scene.
Pursuing a forensic scientist degree is a great first step to becoming a CSI.
