Psychiatry is a medical specialisation. The qualifications required are -


Bachelors in Medicine and Surgery i.e MBBS- 5 and 1/2 years including 1 year of internship
followed by-
1. MD in psychiatry i.e post-graduation-3 yrs duration or




  1. Diploma in psychological medicine (DPM) -2 yrs or




  2. DNB Psychiatry -3 yrs
