Suzanne’s Answer

Joseph, it sounds like you have several interests and strengths...and, of course, others may become apparent later! I wonder if you'd like to explore a career in "drama therapy". The idea behind drama therapy, as I understand it, is to use drama and theater as a means of providing therapy to people. Some drama therapists work in schools or after-school programs or in mental health settings. If you particularly like working with children, there are drama therapist programs for kids you could learn more about. See if you can find one there in New York and (after you've had your COVID vaccinations) perhaps you could visit or meet up with one of the drama therapists.

Taylor’s Answer

Hey Joseph! I had a similar situation where I had a lot of talents and gifts but didn’t know what career to choose. I ended up going into teaching and I love it! Due to my personality I made great relationships with my students and my talents I was able to create after school programs doing what I love and teaching kids how to do it! It was a win win for me! Hope this helps!

Vijayalakshmi’s Answer

Hi!! Sounds like you are a good fit to be a great teacher !! A hit with primary graders though you will be well appreciated by the older kids also because somewhere every kid likes to have loads of fun and not just 'learning'. Suggest that you earn a professional education degree or a certificate to teach , and start your career journey !!

Vijayalakshmi recommends the following next steps:

Check out the professional courses at your local university for teaching
Look into your budget and see the course that fits your budget
Choose the grades you would like to teach
Make a survey of the salary and perks available to teacher vis-vis other careers. See you you still prefer teaching !
Have a plan B.
