can we get job right after graduating criminal justice major.

I wanted to know that can we get a job right after we graduate criminal justice major. I wanted to become a homicide detective. So will I get into a police academy right after I graduate or will it be difficult to get into police academy right after graduating. #criminal-justice

Absolutely, Maybe not in your #1 desired position, but you sure can!

Anna I think the key to getting your first job is tenacity. Keep applying and following up and someone will see your desire to work and do good! the rest will follow. A degree and resume are not enough to get the offer, it helps to help yourself stand out as well.

Don't be afraid to pick up the phone and follow up on an application with the hiring manager, or call the HR department and make personal inquiries about positions you desire.

In my experience a degree will certainly be beneficial but you will need to unfortunately go through the lengthy process of application, testing and background check. Then depending on how well you do you will be placed on an eligibility list. If hired you then most likely have to move up through the ranks unless the department you get on has a particular way to obtain your goal. Good luck with your endeavors.
