With the desire to become an automotive engineer, I assume you are absolutely passionate with cars. I have couple friends who work in related industries and here are their advices. Automotive industry is a too general term, you need to drill down your passion and find what you like most. Then you will need to know, in order to get into that area, what skill you need. Find the schools can teach your that skill. Then go get your dream job!

Jeremy recommends the following next steps:

Find the your designated area of interest.
Research the skill requsted by that area
Find the school that offers to sharpen the skill
look for the company you are interested or start your own business
