Adhiragni’s Answer

Mia, K-pop has eye-catching fashion and music is like a mix of pop, hip-hop, rap and R&B and definitely dance!
For sure you must be able to sing or dance or both, if you can rap there's nothing like it You have to audition for different companies. Your talent, personality and looks (sadly) are important. If you want to make it, you might have to learn Korean as well. See if you can get auditions in the big agencies, they might be conducting auditions online.

Priya’s Answer

Hi Mia,
This information is based solely on what I have seen as a fan! Please take it with a grain of salt! I am no expert. From what I have seen, it sounds like working on your art (vocal, rap, dance, etc) is important and getting into a talent company in South Korea is important. I have heard there is one being started in the US, so I would look up more information. After getting into a company, I have heard that people spend time to train and then may get casted in a group. I have only seen pretty well-established people go solo, but I could be wrong! Again, this information is based on my interest of following music as a hobby, so it may not be the most inclusive or detailed information. Searching online may give you better resources and information. I have seen a good couple of audition calls on YouTube as well. Do know that if you need to move to South Korea, you will need to know the language and culture, and that it may be difficult. Hearing podcasts and perspectives from people like Eric Nam, Jessi, Peniel, Jake/Jay/Niki from Enhypen, Felix Lee/Bang Chan/ Han Jisung from Stray Kids may be helpful to get a perspective on what it was like for those living initially outside of South Korea moving there to be an idol, and their successes and challenges! Good luck!
