Dada’s Answer

Nykira ,

You always have to set your goals esp while you are pursuing a career in culinary industry . Its not just limited in becoming a sous chef or executive chef . As you proceed your journey in culinary industry for good 14+ years , as individual life experiences may give you the chance or urge to venture upon owning a food truck or start up your own restaurant , or become a food gastronomy expert - there is always more for you to set goal in a broad aspect.

All the best !

Ryan’s Answer

Hello Nykira!

To be clear, I am not a chef myself, in fact my culinary skills are far below average, but I have worked alongside of chefs for the past few years. What I can tell you is that everyone's goals are different. There is not one correct answer for the life goal of a chef. What you want out of life is your question to answer and can (and probably will) change frequently.

Career-wise, a lot of chefs I have worked with have the dream of becoming an Executive Chef of a hotel or restaurant. Executive Chefs essential control their kitchen and menu, and work directly with restaurant and hotel owners to make their meals as delicious and profitable as possible. Executive Chefs often go on to open their own restaurants if they are able to compile a large amount of name recognition.

I wish you the best in your career,

Ryan
