You need to do the work to get noticed first. That could mean doing a bunch of things like doing live performances to not only work on your chops but to network and find people interested in recording you. Getting paid the big bucks will take time. I started out small and recorded a bunch of vocals for house producers and evdntually got paid 150 for each track it took a few free ones (just remember nothing is free, and you deserve what your owed don't be afraid to ask up front). Reach out to recording studios in the area and send them any demos you have recorded. Show them what your worth. leverage is really all you need in this game.

Hey Kylie J,

The list is endless but a couple for now if you're just starting out..
If you're a singer/songwriter, you can seek a deal through a publisher or you can seek out clubs or venues in your neighborhood that pay artists to play. Always good to know a few staple covers when you'r first starting out to reel in some of the listeners and build a following live and through social media so the clubs/venues take notice and hire you back!
If you're seeking work as a freelance musician, you want to connect with as many other musicians and studios as possible and give them your information. Be friendly, be great at your craft (and that does NOT mean being a virtuoso) and don't overdo the pitching to any single person. There are a lot of great articles and books out there if you google that exact question that will elaborate on all of this. Good luck!
