How do you decide what you want to do with your life?

I think I want to become an anesthesiologist when I get older but I’m not sure how to move forward into that or what to major in.

Figuring out what you want to do with your life can be a bit overwhelming, but don't worry, it's a journey that many people go through. Here are a few tips:

Follow your interests: Think about the things that genuinely excite you. What subjects or activities do you enjoy the most? It could be anything from science to art, sports to music. Exploring your interests can give you a good starting point for finding a career that you'll love.

Try new things: Don't be afraid to step out of your comfort zone and try different experiences. Take up internships, part-time jobs, or volunteer work in fields that interest you. This hands-on experience can give you a taste of what it's like to work in a particular field and help you decide if it's something you want to pursue further.

Talk to people: Reach out to professionals who are already working in the field you're considering. Ask them about their experiences, what they like about their job, and any advice they have for someone starting out. Hearing first-hand stories can give you valuable insights and help you make a more informed decision.

Research, research, research: Take the time to learn more about the careers you're interested in. Look up job descriptions, educational requirements, and potential career paths. This will give you a better understanding of what it takes to get there and if it aligns with your goals.

Trust your instincts: Ultimately, the decision of what to do with your life is yours to make. Listen to your gut feelings and follow your passions. Don't be swayed by what others think you should do. It's important to choose a path that feels right for you.

Remember, it's okay to change your mind along the way. Your interests and goals may evolve as you gain more experiences and learn more about yourself. Embrace the journey, stay curious, and have confidence in yourself as you navigate the path to finding a fulfilling career.

Dive into research in your areas of interest and see if your school has connections in those fields. This way, you can ask professionals about their daily tasks. Take advantage of career day events at your school and feel free to ask lots of questions—people enjoy sharing about their work. Make sure you understand the job roles and educational needs so you know what steps to take for your career path.

Keep in mind that there are no right or wrong answers, and it's okay to change your mind. The most important thing is to find a career that makes you happy and fulfilled.
