It is important to be aware of the construction environment. It is very diverse industry so learning about how to deal with different personalities and cultures would be very beneficial. It is also stressful environment. It varies from project to project but it would good to understand yourself and you personality to ensure it is something you would be enjoying and comfortable to be since you will be spending most of your time working.

Good communication skills are very important in construction as well as everywhere else in life. Learn good grammar, spelling, reading, and writing. You will never regret knowing the English language and being able to use it every day. Construction has a plethora of terms specifically targeted for you to understand the job, and for everyone else to understand you. It is also important to communicate and understand the language of those working with you, whatever language that may be.

Math - can't say enough about math. Again, like good communication skills, you will use math every day of your life on the job, and off the job.

Discipline - show up every day for school, and every day on the job. Graduate High School. Do this for you!

There are other things to learn also, as well as pursuing a college degree if you are so inclined.
