Hi there,
There is no formal education beyond high-school required to become a dog groomer. However, there are certifications that one can obtain voluntarily.
As a beginner, it would only make sense to do at least a couple of weeks of an internship or apprenticeship with an established pet groomer to learn the skills.
You can also take a pet grooming course which gives you more in depth knowledge on different dog breeds, what kind of fur they have and how it needs to be properly treated. You'll learn the appropriate hair cuts, what shampoos and treatments to use, how to keep the dogs calm and cooperating as well as how to trim nails, de-scale teeth and check for skin and ear problems.
