Hi Brian,

A career - good idea! What kind of career are you thinking about? How are you going to get there? What are you good at and what gives you joy?

It's ok if you don't have all the answers yet. Just some things to contemplate while you are still in high-school. There are lots of YouTube videos along the lines of "A day in the life of....." where professionals show what they are doing in their jobs. You can also get an idea what different jobs are like by shadowing professionals in different fields. You can try out different careers by taking on jobs and internships.

All the best to you!

Hey Brian!

Having a goal, like pursuing a career, is important because it gives you direction and something to work towards. It’s like having a map when you’re traveling—you know where you want to go, and the journey becomes more focused. Goals help you stay motivated, build good habits, and give you something to look forward to when things get tough.

When you set goals, you create a path for your personal growth. They don’t have to be huge or all set in stone at once, but they guide you through challenges and decisions. For example, finishing high school is a huge goal that opens up many opportunities, and having a career is not just about getting a job—it’s about finding something that suits your interests, skills, and values.

Getting a lot of work, if that's one of your goals, is also part of the bigger picture. It means you’re focused on gaining experience, learning new things, and achieving personal independence. The more work you get, the more you can grow, refine your skills, and build connections with others in your field.

Remember, it’s okay to adjust your goals as you grow, but always keep your vision alive—it helps you stay on track.
